Bonita elderly day care is business role model

The Millennium House of Southwest Florida, which offers day care for the elderly and adults with disabilities, is being filmed this week as part of an educational video series for community college students.

The video series, Living in the Entrepreneurial World, teaches students about economics and finance and the importance of approaching life with an entrepreneurial attitude.

The series, which highlights several business owners, is a project by Bob Burns and Paul Solman, who have won Emmy and PeaBody awards.

"I was very honored to be selected," said Cindi Ryerson, owner of the Millennium House in Bonita Springs.

When Ryerson opened the Millennium House's doors in August 2002, it had two clients, two staff members and nominal revenue. Three years later, the business had grown to an 11-person staff, an average of 55 clients and more than $25,000 a month in revenue.

She hopes the video raises awareness in elderly care.

"There are so many people who need the service but don't know about adult service daycare," Ryerson said.
